What is a Brand & How it Attracts Your Dream (Or Not So Dreamy) Client
Sheesh, has it really been two months since my last blog post? I guess having a baby is a good enough excuse. During my little hiatus I have been thinking a lot about my brand. Since opening shop a year and a half ago it has evolved. Every successful business evolves, has pivitol moments, failures, wins. The important part is that you stay true to your brand throughout your evolution. But what the hell is a brand anyways? And why is it so important for a business to succeed? Can the way your brand is perceived effect the type of clientele you attract? Could your current brand actually be turning your dream client away? The answer is yes, a big fat YES.
A brand is more than just a pretty logo, it is how you position your company within its market. Your brand is the voice of your company, it is the way you communicate with clients, how you write emails, answer the phone, the images you use on your website and in marketing materials, it is the colors and fonts you use. Your brand tells your clients who you are, why they should trust you and what is credible about your business. Your brand is all encompassing.
Why is a credible brand so important for you business to succeed? Simple, sloppy brand = sloppy product. If your brand is not aligned with your business vision it will be painfully obvious and you will start to turn those dream clients away and attract the not so dreamy ones. Some important questions to ask yourself when building your brand are:
Who is my dream client? What is their age, gender, occupation?
Why should my dream client do business with me?
What are other brands that my dream client uses and trusts? How am I like those brands/How am I different?
